About me
Tatiana (she/hers) is our Manager of Program Operations for the Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) here at UW-Seattle. I am here to focus on our long-term strategy and capacity to continue leading justice-centered sustainability at UW.
I work closely with the Associate Program Director and Program Director in managing our long-term partnerships and building internal capacity to bring more opportunities to you all. On deck are 1) a CSF hosted curriculum on Bridge that will cover topics not often discussed together, but are essential in drafting justice-centered climate solutions (think renewable energy + tribal treaty rights, rising temperatures + urban planning, carbon reductions + growing carbon sinks through ocean restoration) and 2) more resources under our Knowledge Democracy website tab!
I believe sustainability is the solution to inequity and injustice. I am passionate about asserting the voices of community members of color in our decision-making processes and facilitating the cultural shift required to create a more sustainable future. This is a movement that expands all disciplines and has a place for each one of us to contribute.
Read my thesis -- titled Building Power: Deep Democracy as a Public Health Initiative to Improve Community Health and Well-Being -- which I converted into a community resource and is available in the "Knowledge Democracy Tab." It features my photography, drawings, poetry, and a community resource section!
I am here to serve as a resource. During my time at the UW I pursued a dual Masters at the Evans School of Public Policy (environmental and economic policy) and the School of Public Health (Health Systems and Policy). I also actively serve on the Washington State Environmental Justice Council as our Youth Representative and am a recent graduate of the Puget Sound Sage Community Leadership Institute (offers training to community members of color looking to influence governance). Feel free to send me an email at browntm@uw.edu or come by Gerberding B-40! Excited for all the amazing work that continues on our campus.
