About me
Climate change is a goliath of a problem. Oftentimes, I have felt the incomprehensibility of its magnitude in the face of which my own efforts to mitigate or change things seemed futile and miniscule. Something that I’ve found helps me escape this cycle of hopelessness is focusing on local change, building community and creating spaces that allow for more sustainable practices.
In the past, I have done this through volunteering at and building out community gardens, planting trees in urban areas or helping with reforestation efforts. By serving on the committee of the Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF), I hope to expand on that work particularly through a lens of social justice. Through my role, I hope to build connections with students and organizations involved in and passionate about sustainability while also helping to create a more inclusive and equitable space for students and partners alike.
In my professional work, I study the dual side of technology: (1) how it can be used to help address climate change, while also looking into (2) the environmental impact of technology itself. Both sides of the coin are linked to environmental as well as social systems of resource management and use, which is a lens that I hope to also deepen through my involvement with CSF.
In my free time, I like to backpack and go on long walks – there’s no better way to learn about a place than to stroll right through it! I also enjoy reading and holding book clubs with my friends to hear about the myriad possible perspectives that can arise from a text.
