CSF Mission and Diversity Statement:

The CSF’s mission is to foster an environmentally and socially engaged university culture and create a sustainable campus by funding multidisciplinary, student initiated and led projects. Guided by student oversight through each phase of the grantmaking and project management process, our work aims to increase campus-wide social equity, community resilience, and climate action. Equity, inclusion and diversity are guiding principles to sustainability at the University. We value and honor diverse experiences and perspectives, while striving to create welcoming and respectful learning environments and promote access and opportunity for all.

Position Description

The CSF Coordinator will be instrumental to both the day-to-day operations as well as strategic visioning for the CSF and the Committee. The CSF strives to create a non-hierarchical organizational culture that encourages student leadership and empowerment — the CSF Coordinator will be expected to uphold (and advise on, revise as needed) the mission, vision, and values established by the CSF Committee & Staff. As one of the most well-resourced positions within the CSF, this role will be expected to carry out many of the primary functions of the organization.

The Coordinator will support the development and implementation of primarily student-led, campus-based sustainability projects (large- and small-scale) that meaningfully advance the University's sustainability goals. Eligible projects are highly diverse and range from carbon and waste reduction to water and energy conservation to social and environmental justice and more. The CSF annually receives an average of more than $500,000 from its two primary funding sources: the Student Activity Fee and the Student Technology Fee. The CSF has funded as many as 50 projects in an academic year, and over 250 total projects since our inception in 2010. The Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the CSF Program & Finance Manager to ensure the prudent stewardship and oversight of CSF funds, advance organizational transparency, and ensure investments into campus projects are well supported to serve as a sustained resource for future generations of students.

The CSF Coordinator will be a team player as well as a self-starter, with excellent collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff. The role will be an opportunity for a student to bring their existing skill set forward, as well as an opportunity for learning and growth. Some of the characteristics that will be developed in the role include creative problem solving skills, an inclusive and equity-centered approach, strategic thinking, flexibility and resilience; ability to gain consensus; ability to manage sensitive situations; verbal and written communication skills; and proficiency and comfort presenting to both small and large groups of people.
